In a world where partnership and compassion can transform lives, Hope Community Action Africa (HCA) extends its deepest gratitude to Cornerstone Ministry Norway for their profound and unwavering support. This Norwegian-based charity, led by the dedicated Mr. Håvard and Mrs. Maria Nygjerde, has been a pivotal force in driving humanitarian and leadership development work in Uganda, leaving an indelible mark on the communities HCA serves.
Cornerstone Ministry’s (CM) collaboration with HCA has been multifaceted, focusing on critical areas that foster both immediate relief and long-term sustainability.
One of the cornerstones of this partnership is the development of a Day Center in Kisoro Municipality, Southwest Uganda. This center serves as an accessible and safe place where children, particularly those orphaned and directly affected by HIV, and their caregivers can receive vital psychosocial support. In cooperation with Hope Community Action Africa and Kisoro referral hospital, this initiative currently supports 47 children, providing services they desperately need. This Day Center also houses the HCA district office, making it a central hub for community support.
Recognizing that immediate aid must be paired with empowerment, CM also supports initiatives to help children’s caregivers develop sustainable projects. Many of these families face immense poverty and require help with medicine, clothing, schooling, and food. By fostering these projects, Cornerstone Ministry is helping caregivers find lasting solutions to their challenges, paving the way for a more secure and self-sufficient future.
Furthermore, Cornerstone Ministry has been instrumental in strengthening HCA’s organizational capacity through Leadership Development Training and Support. Since 2019, Mr. Håvard and Mrs. Maria Nygjerde have personally dedicated their time to teaching leaders online. This investment in leadership is invaluable, equipping HCA with high-quality knowledge, new perspectives, and enhanced skills. A stronger leadership team translates directly into a more effective organization, expanding HCA’s ability to reach and help more people in need.
The importance of Cornerstone Ministry’s support cannot be overstated. Without their partnership, HCA would not have a conducive Day Center for children and caregivers to access counselling services, nor a home for its district office. The support for sustainable projects provides a tangible path out of poverty for vulnerable families, and the leadership development initiative ensures that HCA can continue to grow and serve its community effectively.
The local operations in Kisoro are diligently managed by a dedicated team headed by Mr. Eric Niyonshima, the Project Coordinator. The team works tirelessly, operating from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, to ensure these vital programs run smoothly.
