We are thankful to all those who supported us through prayer and donations. The people in Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement were really happy.
We had two activities running at the same time; Girl empowerment for 30 child mothers and leadership training for 20 leaders of youth and children.
The leadership training was focused on introductory sports outreach and discipleship, in preparation for an upcoming sports outreach training. The Girl-empowerment activity included making sanitary towels, a counselling, hygiene and Bible session.
This program was made possible through a partnership with the Lutheran World Federation Uganda. Hope Community Action Africa is implementing a sports outreach program in partnership with the Lutheran World Federation Uganda, to introduce sports outreach integrated with career motivation, life skills and health awareness through sports, in Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement.
Mrs. Vicky Ebong and Miss. Promise Kukunda led the Girl Empowerment activities. They had this to say:
It has been a wonderful experience and opportunity this afternoon teaching “child mothers how to make reusable sanitary towels in Kyempango C at Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement. The pad making project was initiated by and funded by Hope Community Action Africa where I am a board member, in collaboration with Lutheran World Federation. Earlier in the morning after giving a talk on girl empowerment, I gave a one and half hour talk to church leaders in the area on Discipleship and challenges in the 21st Century. Soon after that we took the audience through a 20 minute aerobic exercises to encourage them to keep fit. It was fun being their first time to have such. It is now past 6 pm but we still have one item before we close the day. Like Jesus met both spiritual and physical needs of the people he ministered to, we thought we too should bless them. Some few families in Kampala donated very good used clothes for the refugees. It is the last thing we are doing now before we go back to our hotel.
