This
week our focus is Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement. A local team of more than
10 volunteers will join me as we meet several leaders and other stakeholders in
the settlement, to share about our mission and learn from them to inform our
upcoming interventions in the settlement. 250 adults will participate in
one-on-one discussion on how we can make a difference in the community. 16% of
these will participate in two separate workshops, one for pastors from
different Churches and the other for a core team of volunteers.
Where as there are several needs in the camp, Hope Community Action is focused
on Improved Access to Safe Water, Improved Access to Post-Primary Education and
Improving the Lives of Children through Sport.
The pastors’ workshop will address more issues. Additional focus areas
during the workshop are: Family Based Discipleship program using a joint-edited
Family Devotional Guide, Reaching vulnerable children and youth through sport
integrated with structured non-formal education.
Please join us in prayer. There’s limited access to internet in the
area. Where possible we’ll be posting updates on the HCA Facebook
Page. Please like the page to stay updated. Otherwise we’ll send out a
general news update at the end of the month with a summary of the week events.
